  • Your questions answered

As these bikes are a relatively new introduction to the UK, we’ve tried to answer your questions here - if you’ve got any more, please just ask!

What exactly is a Baby Moto?
Take a traditional motorbike and put it on a hot wash! Seriously, they are scaled-down versions of your typical road bike. Whatever they look like, these aren’t toys - they can reach speeds of around 40mph (that’s very fast when you’re only 50cm off the ground!) and should be always be treated with respect.

Does it behave like a ’proper’ bike?
Because it’s lighter the Baby Moto will change direction much faster and takes much less power to lift up the front wheel - lots of fun but protective clothing is a must!

    Is it a kids bike?
Nope! Younger riders must always have responsible & experienced adult supervision (we don’t recommend it for riders under the age of 16 who have not had previous experience on performance machines). There are restrictors that can be fitted to Baby Motos to limit their top speeds.

    Where can I ride it
Well, it’s not road legal (no, you can’t take it on the pavements either!) and it’s not an off road bike - this means that you need to find a large, flat, ideally tarmaced are. With permission a carpark is ideal, alternatively you can pay for track time at racing circuits all over the country - and it’s quite cheap too (take a couple of mates and it’ll be the best day out you’ve ever had!)

    How fast does it go?
Most Baby Motos will accelerate quickly to about 45 miles per hour. More or less depending on optional power and sprocket sizes.

If I buy a bike, what else will I need
You must wear protective clothing when riding a Baby Moto. This should always include helmet, gloves, knee & elbow pads and boots (falling off in trainers can really knacker your ankles!). If you plan to open up the throttle, leather trousers are a good idea as you will come off! (it’s part of the fun, but only if you’re wearing the right gear!)

    What about breakdowns?
All Baby Moto’s come with a 30 day manufacturers warrantee on all parts. If you need spares after that please contact us for details: Baby Moto provides replacement parts that are inexpensive and easy to install.

What do Baby Motos run on?
A mixture of unleaded petrol and good quality engine oil. Depending on the bike this mixture should be either 25:1 (full fairing) or 30:1 (half fairing) and you’ll have to mix it yourself. You can make up a batch but only store the mixture in a well ventilated & secure are. Never use petrol that has been stored for longer than 2 weeks.
A new engine should have a richer mixture of 40 to one for the first 10 hours. Do not use a mixture of less than 25 to 1, it will be too rich and may damage the spark plug.
